woman arrested with cocaine hidden in loaf of bread

A woman was arrested at the San Ysidro Port of Entry on Tuesday after U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers discovered a significant quantity of cocaine cleverly concealed within a loaf of bread she was attempting to bring into the country.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Isabella Reyes, a U.S. citizen, was referred for a secondary inspection after a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the vehicle she was driving. During the thorough search, officers found a standard bag of groceries, which included a seemingly innocent loaf of sliced sandwich bread.

Upon closer examination, officers noticed the loaf felt unusually dense and heavy. They sliced open the bread to find that the interior had been hollowed out and filled with 12 individually wrapped packages containing a white powdery substance. The substance field-tested positive for cocaine.
