NDLEA On Fire! 11 Drug Kingpins Jailed 254 Years as Agency Secures 974 Convictions in Q1 2026
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has officially hit the ground running in 2026, delivering a massive blow to the illicit drug trade in Nigeria. In a recently released scorecard for the first quarter of the year, the agency revealed it secured a staggering 974 convictions between January and March.

Even more impressive? 11 notorious drug kingpins have been sent to the cooler for a combined total of 254 years in prison.
The headline-grabbing conviction of the quarter belongs to Adegbite Solomon (popularly known as Obama), an Italy-based businessman.
Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court in Lagos didn’t hold back, sentencing Solomon to a massive 130 years imprisonment. But the punishment didn’t stop at jail time; the court also ordered:
- The revocation of his pharmacy license.
- The forfeiture of two pharmacy outlets.
- The seizure of funds across multiple bank accounts.

Other Major Casings
The NDLEA’s reach extended across the federation, with significant sentences handed down in various states:
- Ridwan Animashaun (Ibadan): Bagged 25 years for drug trafficking.
- Rauf Asogba & Seun Olaniyi (Abeokuta): Both sentenced to 17 years each after being caught with 1,779kg of cannabis.
- Jonathan Nuhu (Kano): The man known as “Doctor” was handed 15 years behind bars.
- Idris Yusuf (Damaturu): Received a 15-year sentence, plus an additional 8 years in a separate case.
