Tinubu Vows No Surrender To Terrorists As FG Intensifies Nationwide Security Operations
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forcefully reaffirmed that his administration will not surrender or bow to the pressure of terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements. He emphasized that the Federal Government is actively breaking the back of these networks by squeezing their operations nationwide.
Following a major national security emergency declaration, the government’s counter-terrorism campaign is prioritizing aggressive operations, expanded security recruitment, and grassroots tactical redeployments.
Key Strategies in the Renewed Security Push
The Federal Government’s intensified nationwide operations rely on several core adjustments to the country’s security architecture:
- Operation Savannah Shield: A major joint-force deployment targeting vulnerable communities and flushing out insurgent hideouts, particularly across the North Central axis (including Kwara, Plateau, Benue, and Niger states).
- Massive Personnel Recruitment: In an effort to rapidly scale up “boots on the ground,” the President authorized the recruitment of thousands of new personnel into the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces, utilizing several NYSC camps as immediate training depots.
- VIP Escort Redepolyments: To address the shortage of front-line personnel, the Nigeria Police Force has executed a large-scale withdrawal of officers previously assigned to VIP guard duties, retraining and redeploying them directly into core community policing and high-risk theatres.
- Forest Guard Activations: The Department of State Services (DSS) has been mandated to deploy trained forest guard units directly into dense woodland areas to dismantle the hideouts used by bandits and kidnappers.
“Those who want to test our resolve should never mistake our restraint for weakness. This administration has the courage and determination to keep the country safe and ensure our citizens live in peace.”
— President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Regional Focus and Operational Scope
The intensified crackdown targets specific flashpoints while tightening the net nationwide:
| Region / Theatre | Primary Tactical Focus | Key Security Assets Deployed |
| North Central Flashpoints (Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Benue) | Protecting rural farming communities, securing places of worship, and neutralizing border-zone bandits. | Operation Savannah Shield, Joint Military-Police Task Forces. |
| North West & Northeast (Zamfara, Kebbi, Borno, Yobe) | Rooting out entrenched insurgent networks, dismantling kidnapping syndicates, and securing critical transport corridors. | Armed Forces of Nigeria, Air Component strikes, DSS intelligence units. |
| National Forests & Remote Borders | Flushing out criminal actors utilizing thick forest covers as operational bases or hostage holding zones. | Transferred Forest Guards, tactical scout units. |
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has further clarified that while these military and law enforcement operations are unyielding, they are strictly mandated to follow globally accepted Rules of Engagement to ensure the protection of civilian populations during active combat. The presidency continues to urge communities nationwide to remain vigilant, ignore divisive narrative traps, and cooperate fully with localized security operations.
