Heartbreaking news reaching us at NaijaTunesHub confirms that a horrific gas truck explosion has claimed at least six lives along the busy Abuja-Lokoja Federal Highway in Kogi State.

The tragic incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, has thrown commuter communities and families of the victims into deep mourning.

How the Incident Happened

According to eyewitness reports, the disaster struck within the jurisdiction of the Chikara Division in Kogi State.

A truck heavily loaded with industrial gas cylinders was approaching a military checkpoint on the highway when it suddenly detonated. The massive explosion instantly triggered a violent firestorm.

Because there was a queue of vehicles waiting to pass through the checkpoint, the fire quickly spread, engulfing three other heavy-duty trucks parked nearby.

“The driver of the gas truck and his motor boy (assistant) were burnt to death on the spot. The fire also caught up with three other trucks, killing their drivers and assistants as well.” — Eyewitness account.
