WAHALA! Man Sent To Jail After Attempting To Steal Police Armoured Vehicle

Talk about taking Grand Theft Auto way too seriously!

In a story that has left many people scratching their heads and laughing, a man has been handed a prison sentence after making a ridiculously bold attempt to drive off with a heavy-duty police armoured vehicle.

What Happened?

Most thieves target parked cars, phones, or wallets, but this suspect decided to go for the final boss of vehicles: a fully equipped police armoured personnel carrier.

Here is how the bizarre incident played out:

• The Target: A multi-ton, bulletproof police armoured vehicle stationed during an active assignment.
• The Attempt: The suspect managed to sneak into the driver’s seat, set his sight on a wild getaway, and attempted to hotwire/drive the giant rig away right under the officers’ noses.
• The Catch: As you’d expect, commandeering a military-grade vehicle isn’t as easy as video games make it look. Officers quickly noticed the commotion, blocked off the exit, and swarmed the truck before he could make a clean break.

Court Delivers Final Judgment

After being taken into custody and charged with attempted grand theft and interference with law enforcement operations, the court wasted no time in handing down his punishment.

The judge wasn’t amused by the audacity of the stunt and sentenced the suspect to a prison term to serve as a strong deterrent to anyone else thinking of pulling off “movie-style” stunts.

“He literally tried to steal from the people paid to stop stealing. You can’t make this stuff up!” — Reactions from social media users.

Key Takeaways

1. Life isn’t GTA: Armoured vehicles are slow, loud, and heavily monitored.
2. Wrong target: Of all the things to hustle for, a police tank is definitely at the bottom of the safety list.
3. Instant regret: He traded a few seconds of clout/madness for a stretch behind bars.
