Tinubu Is Tired, Let Him Retire In Peace” – Peter Obi Fires At President On Channels TV

Former Anambra State Governor and opposition leader, Peter Obi, has dropped another bombshell, declaring that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is “tired” and no longer has the vigor or capacity required to rescue Nigeria from its current economic and security troubles.

Speaking live during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics with Seun Okinbaloye, Obi asserted that the version of Tinubu governing Nigeria today is far removed from the man who served as governor of Lagos State.

“He Should Just Step Aside”

Drawing a sharp contrast between Tinubu’s past track record in Lagos and his current administration in Abuja, Obi urged the President to step down in 2027 and go home to rest.

“The Bola Tinubu that was governor is not the one that is president today. He’s tired. He should be allowed to retire in peace, and then go home,” Obi stated during the broadcast.

“As it is right now, Bola Tinubu is leading us nowhere. That’s why maybe I’m calling for his retirement. The man should just step aside. Yes, he doesn’t have the capacity to do the job.”

Focus On High Poverty And Insecurity

Obi pointed to worsening socio-economic indicators across the country, citing recent reports on hunger, mass abductions, and alarming poverty statistics.

He highlighted that with over 79% of the population facing economic hardship, national conversations ought to focus strictly on real-life issues—such as out-of-school children, healthcare, and security—rather than political maneuvering.

“You can’t create mass poverty and think you can deal with insecurity. The more you put people out of poverty, the more you reduce criminality. You need to invest in education massively,” Obi argued.
