The Accord Party presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has issued a hard-hitting critique of the federal government’s security response, declaring that Nigeria is currently in a state of war without a clear plan from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to win it.

Reacting to the latest wave of violence, killings across Kaduna, Zamfara, and Plateau, and the abduction of citizens—including a High Court judge in Kebbi State—Hashim warned that the country’s security architecture requires an urgent and drastic overhaul.

According to Hashim, the persistent bloodshed across various regions is no longer just isolated criminal acts, but a full-blown national emergency. He noted that criminal gangs and terrorists continue to hold the strategic upper hand while the government remains largely reactive.

“Nigeria is under attack. This is war, yet the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration has no strategy to end it. As long as terrorists determine the time, place, and intensity of attacks, they, and not the government, retain the strategic initiative,” Hashim stated.
