Families of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted in Kogi State are facing a harrowing ordeal after kidnappers established contact and demanded a ₦20 million ransom for each victim still held in captivity.

The corps members were seized along the Aloma-Egane Expressway in the Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State while traveling from Bayelsa State to Abuja following their three-week orientation exercise.

Key Facts of the Incident:

• The Abduction: Gunmen ambushed two commercial buses carrying passengers—including 15 corps members—traveling along the Ofu/Itobe-Onicha-Igo axis.
• Demand Made: Relatives confirmed receiving phone calls from the captors, who insisted on ₦20 million per head before releasing the victims.
• Rescue Operations: The Kogi State Police Command and joint security agencies intervened shortly after the ambush, successfully rescuing 11 victims (including drivers). However, several corps members remain trapped in the bush.
• Family Appeals: Distraught relatives have issued urgent pleas to the Federal Government, the NYSC management, and security forces to escalate operations along the transit corridor and bring their children home safely.
