My Mother Did Not Curse Him” – Destiny Boy’s Sister Denies Viral Voice Note

In the wake of the tragic passing of Nigerian singer Destiny Boy (Afeez Adeshina) in January 2026, his elder sister has stepped forward to debunk rumors that their mother, Saidat Adeshina, cursed him before his death.

The controversy began when an old audio clip circulated on social media, reportedly showing the mother using harsh language during a family disagreement.

Key Details of the Denial

  • Context of the Audio: Destiny Boy’s sister clarified that the viral voice note was recorded during a past family disagreement. She emphasized that while their mother was rebuking him to encourage better behavior and obedience, it was never an attempt to “kill” or “curse” him to death.
  • The Sister’s Defense: In a video response, she slammed TikTokers and bloggers for spreading “malicious” narratives, asking, “Is it possible for a mother to kill her own child?”
  • Mother’s Reaction: Saidat Adeshina has also spoken out, tearfully denying the allegations. She claimed she has been receiving death threats and pleaded with the public to stop the harassment, stating she is already mourning the loss of her son.

Reported Cause of Death

According to the family, Destiny Boy had been battling a long-term medical condition for approximately two years.

  • The Illness: His mother described the condition as “Oku oru,” which caused severe seizures and periods of mental instability.
  • Final Moments: He reportedly suffered a final seizure while seeking treatment and passed away shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

Current Status

As of January 21, 2026, the Ogun State Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with the singer’s death, and the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
