VeryDarkMan called for Harrison Gwamnishu’s Arrest

At its core, this is a conflict between two activists over an alleged human trafficking and organ harvesting case. VeryDarkMan accuses Harrison Gwamnishu of compromising his position as a human rights advocate by allegedly collecting money from the accused to abandon the victim’s case. Harrison Gwamnishu has strongly denied these allegations, providing his own account of events.

VeryDarkMan’s Allegations and Reasons for the Arrest Call

VeryDarkMan, in a series of viral videos and social media posts, laid out several explosive claims. His call for Harrison Gwamnishu’s arrest is based on the following points:

1. The Case of a Trafficked Victim: The entire issue revolves around a young woman (allegedly named “Ada Jesus”) who was reportedly trafficked to Enugu State. Her family sought help to rescue her and bring her perpetrators to justice.

2. Initial Involvement of Harrison Gwamnishu: According to VDM, the victim’s family initially reached out to Harrison Gwamnishu and his organization, “Behind Bars,” for help. Gwamnishu allegedly took up the case and was actively involved in trying to secure the victim’s release.

3. The “Sudden Silence” and Alleged Betrayal: VDM’s main accusation is that after some initial progress, Harrison Gwamnishu suddenly went quiet and stopped communicating with the victim’s family. VDM claims this was not a simple withdrawal from the case but a deliberate abandonment.

4. The Core Accusation: Collection of a Bribe: This is the most serious part of VDM’s claim. He alleges that Harrison Gwamnishu’s silence was “bought” by the individuals accused of trafficking the young woman. VDM asserts that Gwamnishu collected a significant sum of money from the alleged traffickers to drop the case and stop advocating for the victim.

5. “Evidence” Presented by VeryDarkMan: To back up his claims, VDM presented what he called evidence, which included:

  • Screenshots of Chats: Purportedly showing conversations between the victim’s family and Gwamnishu’s team.
  • Voice Notes: Alleged voice recordings from people close to the situation claiming Gwamnishu was paid off.
  • A Petition: VeryDarkMan went beyond social media rants and formally wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police (IGP). In the petition, he detailed his allegations and called for a thorough investigation and the subsequent arrest of Harrison Gwamnishu for obstruction of justice and complicity in a crime.

He claims his actions are driven by a need to “cleanse” the activist space. He argues that if a respected human rights advocate like Gwamnishu can be compromised, it undermines the fight for justice for ordinary Nigerians.

VeryDarkMan called for Harrison Gwamnishu’s arrest because he firmly believes Gwamnishu betrayed a human trafficking victim by taking a bribe from her perpetrators to kill the case. Gwamnishu maintains his innocence, stating he helped the victim but withdrew due to issues with her family. The matter now rests on whether the police will act on VDM’s petition and launch a formal investigation.
