Bola Ahmed Tinubu Pledges to Defeat Terrorism After Boko Haram Attack Kills General and Soldiers in Borno

Nigeria is in mourning following a devastating terrorist ambush in Borno State that resulted in the loss of several gallant soldiers, including a high-ranking officer. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted with heavy grief and a renewed pledge to eliminate the threat of Boko Haram and ISWAP from Nigerian soil.

Sources confirm that the attackers targeted multiple communities, including Pulka and Bakin Ruwa, before moving toward Benisheikh. During the fierce gun battle that ensued, Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, the Brigade Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade (Operation HADIN KAI), paid the supreme price alongside over ten other brave security personnel.

Tinubuโ€™s Reaction: “Their Sacrifice Will Not Be In Vain”

In a statement released by the State House, President Tinubu expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen heroes and the Nigerian Armed Forces.

“Their sacrifices will not be in vain. Because of the courage and dedication of our troops on the frontline, our resolve to defeat terrorism and all forms of violence across Nigeria is stronger than ever,” the President declared.

The President described the insurgents’ recent strikes as “signs of desperation” following sustained air and land offensives by the military that have neutralized many terrorist commanders in recent weeks.

The President assured the military of continued investment in advanced equipment and improved welfare for those on the frontlines.

He urged the Military High Command not to lose heart, describing the fallen soldiers as “unforgettable heroes.”

Tinubu reaffirmed that there is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety, promising that the government will continue to “locate, confront, and completely defeat” all criminal elements

Security analysts have noted that the death of Brigadier-General Braimah is a significant blow, marking one of the highest-ranking casualties in the region in recent months. However, the military remains steadfast, reporting that they successfully repelled the coordinated attacks and forced the remaining insurgents to retreat into the Sambisa forest.

As the nation stands in solidarity with the military, all eyes remain on the federal government’s next move to restore total peace to the Northeast.
