he Nigerian Army has made a significant breakthrough following the tragic attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State. Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly arrested a 15-year-old teenage suspect in connection with the deadly assault that claimed the life of Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah.

The arrest comes just days after the nation was thrown into mourning over the loss of the high-ranking officer and several brave soldiers.

Military sources reveal that the teenage suspect was apprehended during a follow-up operation targeting the insurgents responsible for the coordinated midnight raid. The suspect is currently being interrogated to provide crucial intelligence on the terrorist cell that orchestrated the ambush in the Benisheikh and Ngamdu axis.

Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, described as a “gallant and fearless leader,” was the Brigade Commander of the Joint Task Force in the region. He reportedly paid the supreme price while leading his men to repel a massive onslaught by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

The attack was one of the most significant hits on the Nigerian military in recent months, with President Bola Tinubu describing the insurgents’ actions as a “sign of desperation.”
