Police arrest two suspects over k!lling of three women in Adamawa

he Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of two male suspects in connection with the gruesome killing of three women in Gombi Local Government Area of the state. The arrests have brought a measure of relief to a community that has been living in fear following the string of murders.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to the press on Tuesday. He identified the suspects as Usman Abubakar, 25, and Aliyu Musa, 30, both residents of Gombi town.

According to the statement, the three victims, all local traders, were found dead in separate locations within Gombi town over the past week. The mysterious circumstances of their deaths, which bore similar marks of violence, had sparked widespread panic and condemnation from residents and civil society groups.

“The command, upon receiving reports of these heinous acts, immediately deployed a team of detectives and tactical operatives to Gombi to unravel the mystery behind the killings,” SP Nguroje said.

He explained that the breakthrough came after a painstaking intelligence operation, aided by credible information from members of the public. The suspects were reportedly apprehended at a hideout where they were planning to flee the town.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the killings may have been carried out for ritual purposes. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include a sharp knife believed to be the murder weapon, several personal belongings of the victims, and a collection of charms and other items suspected to be for ritualistic activities.
