Court sentences man to 12 years imprisonment for r@ping 4-year-old girl in Yobe
The Yobe State High Court has sentenced a man to 12 years in prison for the sexual assault of a four-year-old girl. The landmark judgment, delivered in Damaturu, serves as a significant step in the state’s ongoing battle against gender-based violence and the protection of minors.
The prosecution established that the convict committed the heinous act in a community within the state, violating the innocence of the toddler. During the trial, the prosecution presented medical evidence and witness testimonies that proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
In his ruling, the presiding judge condemned the act as “barbaric” and “reprehensible,” noting that such crimes leave lifelong psychological scars on victims and their families.
Legal experts and child rights advocates in the region have hailed the verdict, describing it as a strong deterrent. The state government has previously reiterated its “zero-tolerance” policy regarding the abuse of women and children, urging citizens to report such incidents to the authorities immediately.
“This judgment sends a clear signal that the law will always catch up with those who prey on the vulnerable in our society.
